Challenge
Remote and distributed teams needed reliable attendance tracking and productivity visibility without heavyweight enterprise tools. Clokwork required a SaaS product with desktop sync, activity analytics, screenshot queues, and role-based portals for admins and employees.
Approach
We designed a multi-tenant time-tracking platform with a cloud dashboard and native desktop trackers for Windows and macOS. The system captures active time, idle behavior, app usage, and screenshots — syncing reliably even after offline periods.
Key technical decisions
- Org-isolated multi-tenancy so every organization's data stays fully separated
- Desktop sync queue with retry for screenshots and activity events
- Real-time performance dashboards showing tracked, active, and idle hours
- Role-based portals for organization admins and employees
- CSV export pipelines for payroll and audit workflows
Results
Clokwork launched as a production SaaS with live activity sync (~30s), transparent pricing plans, and desktop apps for continuous tracking. Teams can monitor attendance quality and workforce reporting from one dashboard.
